Update from Tom on the agency and internships

Hi everyone, I hope you are all keeping well throughout the current unprecedented situation.

Life at The Dairy continues as normal, with our team working hard from their own homes in order to ensure that we continue to produce our usual high standard of creative work. It is only in the past week or so that we have truly begun to appreciate the benefits of the digital age after almost taking it for granted until now.

Fortunately, none of the team has to-date contracted the virus (touch wood), and we remain fit and well at this time. We’ve got into the swing of Google Hangouts, chatting on a daily basis, and we’re even hosting a little on-screen after-work drinks session tonight to lift our spirits!

As we continue to say to our clients, our service offering remains unaffected and should anything change in this regard, then we will of course be in touch with an update.

One subject that we have not touched on so far is internships. I have in the last few days been in contact with every intern set to join us in 2020. Unfortunately, due to the current climate of uncertainty, we are unable to accept new applications for internships for 2020 until the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted and we are in a position to assess our situation.

We have already cut short one placement this month, with the student now back at home and working on university projects instead of spending time with our team. As ever, the safety and wellbeing of our interns takes priority and it would be unfair of us to expect students to try and complete such placements from afar with no knowledge of our agency, who we work with and our day-to-day operations.

I have also taken the decision to give students that have their placements with us cancelled due to the coronavirus, first refusal on opportunities once the current restrictions are lifted. This only seems fair so that they still have the chance to learn more about us and the work we do.

As I say, we are now unfortunately unable to accept any further applications for 2020 and I will not be looking ahead to 2021 until we have a clearer understanding of the situation. I apologise for any inconveniences that this may cause.

If you would like to find out more about placements with The Dairy then please do get in touch and I will come back to you as soon as I can. I look forward to welcoming more bright young brains to the agency next year when things hopefully return to normal!

All the best,

Tom
