It’s been a little while since we provided an update on how things are going here at The Dairy. With that in mind, I thought it was about time we filled you in on what’s been happening during lockdown and how we’re shaping up as the country prepares to enjoy a well deserved pint down the local once more in the coming weeks.
A busy lockdown
Despite the majority of the UK economy shutting during the lockdown, I must admit that we didn’t see a significant drop in our workflow or projects. Working from home has certainly given us much more flexibility and there have been a few longer days and late nights where needed.
All in all, our lockdown has been very positive given the climate around us. Clients continued to work with us long-term on their marketing – whether that be strategic planning or implementing tactics across design, social media, PR, copywriting, or web. We’ve had the good fortune to see a healthy number of new enquiries coming in, particularly in late May and early June – with many brands now focusing on getting back on their feet post-lockdown. We hope to bring news of a few new clients in the coming weeks!
How’re the team?
Our team is doing great and (touch wood), no one has succumbed to the virus so far. Video calls are now part of the decor, as they are for many, and we’ve retained a good spirit throughout with regular contact and the same degrees of banter. There’s been a few personal ups and downs with holidays, weddings and house moves postponed, but we’ve always been there for each other to make the best of the situation we’ve found ourselves in.
In times such as these, you really do see the true character of the people around you. We know that most businesses will be saying this but (and we really do mean this), our team has been faultless. Everyone has come together, galvanised their efforts and ensured that as a business we are in as good a position post-lockdown as we were pre-lockdown.
Without everyone’s dedication and hard work, we wouldn’t be where we are now and we would like to place on record our sincere thanks to each and every member of the team. We always say that our people make us who we are – and our people make us incredibly proud.
Looking ahead – 2020 can’t get any worse, right?
We remain positive as a team that things will continue to pick up after seeing a spike of activity in late May and throughout June. Brands have recognised that turning off their marketing is simply not feasible because they lose so much traction in terms of awareness and lead generation. We’re lucky to have a fantastic forward-thinking client base that is keen to continue to work in partnership with us to deliver exciting creative outputs through both the bad times and the good. We see plenty of reasons to be optimistic for them and us and as an agency, we have a lot to be thankful for.
Plans are afoot to get us back in the office safely in July and we can’t wait to be able to enjoy each other’s company once more. Being creative together is possible over Zoom, but we wouldn’t recommend it long-term!
I have taken the decision to pause our internship programme for the rest of 2020 so for anyone looking to secure a placement, I’m afraid we will be unable to accommodate you this year. I’m hopeful of resuming normal service in 2021 – COVID permitting!
So all in all, a solid previous three months for our team. 2020 has certainly been an interesting year to say the least and our motto is that things can only get better.
The most important thing of all is that we’re still open, still honest, and still as creative as ever.
