We are delighted to announce that we have secured a two-year partnership with renowned Mobility as a Service (MaaS) provider Trafi, as well as Nottingham City Council and Derby City Council, ahead of the launch of a new multi-city integrated journey planner which is set to revolutionise how people travel across two of the East Midlands’ busiest cities.

With funding recently secured through the Department for Transport’s (DfT) Future Transport Zone funding, Nottingham City Council, in partnership with Derby City Council, has appointed Trafi to deliver a multi-modal journey planning platform designed to integrate the two cities and make travelling with public transport, micro mobility and car sharing simple.

Trafi is a renowned provider of B2G MaaS technology platforms as part of joined up strategies to reduce congestion and emissions. Notable cities where the company’s technology solutions have been launched include Berlin, Brussels, Portsmouth, Southampton and the Isle of Wight, Munich and Zurich.

Spanning a two-year period, the Nottingham and Derby contract is worth £2.6m and will see the development of a platform consisting of a customisable white-label app, back office tools, mobility intelligence platform and a wide range of intuitive integrations.

For users of public transport, the new smartphone travel app will allow passengers to find, plan, book and pay for journey’s thanks to a multi-modal journey planner, route search functionality, real-time public transport schedules, in-app ticketing and payments and ID verification.

Journeycall have been appointed to handle customer support, with The Dairy selected to deliver a two-year integrated brand strategy based on our experience of working with notable regional organisations including Nottingham City Transport, Robin Hood Network and Nottingham Contactless.

Speaking about our success at securing the project, our Account Director Tom Walters said, “Nottingham and Derby are two of the most well connected cities when it comes to public transport, with passenger numbers strong and long established networks in place to take people from A to B with the minimum of fuss,”

“We’re delighted to have been selected to curate a brand strategy for the app in partnership with Trafi and both local authorities. The ultimate goal of our strategy will be to drive brand awareness at an early stage, while generating downloads of the app from passengers across both cities who require an integrated solution that allows them to manage and pay for their travel in one place. This marks the start of a very exciting era of travel for both cities and we cannot wait to play our part in making this exciting vision a reality.”
