The Dairy was set up in 2002 in an old dairy milking parlour in Derbyshire, attached to which was a beautiful old farmhouse – a great place to convert into an office, and inspiration for a meaningful and memorable name!
Since that time, we’ve moved to offices in West Bridgford, Nottingham, and
Always open, transparent and honest, our clients tell us they like who we are, what we do and how we do it – and for us, there’s no bigger compliment.
We use our creativity, marketing communications experience and expertise to help our clients be seen and heard in the way they wish, by the people they most want to reach. And we are passionate about doing a great job for them.
We make it our job to really get to know our clients so that we can gain a full understanding of their business and what it’s trying to achieve. This enables us to specialise in marketing strategy and planning – building the foundations if you will. Yes, we could go straight to designing a pretty logo, but how can we be sure it has the right marketing thinking behind it?
We work with a variety of clients, both big and small, to fulfil their marketing needs.
Also Nige, Rollo, Biscuit thief, plus others from his years of playing Rugby which are far too rude to mention.
Nigel was recently horrified to discover he has spent over 35 years of his life in ad agencies!
After famously crashing his MD’s car Nigel escaped to London surviving the worst excesses of advertising in the heady 80s. Once he returned home to Nottingham, Nigel enjoyed several high profile roles in account direction and new business. Having worked with Ford, British Gas, Royal Doulton and Church’s shoes, Nigel’s client and strategic experience is comprehensive.
A former chairman of the Nottingham branch of the CIM, Nigel co-founded The Dairy in 2002. He wanted to build a smarter and sharper agency that could deliver superior client service and creative output.
Nigel now enjoys working with The Dairy’s broad client base on a day-to-day basis. When he’s not leading the agency’s strategic charge, Nigel follows the fortunes of his beloved Nottingham Rugby Club. He loves the outdoor life; camping, sailing, tennis, running, so you’d think he’d be thinner!
Also Fi, Fifi, Fio, Finlay, Trixie, even Robert (don’t ask..)
Fiona first met Nigel and Dairy co-founder Jo when they all worked at a Leicester-based marketing agency in 2000.
Experienced in a broad range of marketing communications, her specialism is PR, and Fiona has helped to manage the reputation of an impressively diverse range of B2B and B2C businesses over the last….(*gulp!)…18 years!
Passionate about clear, creative communication, Fiona’s expertise lies in traditional media relations, press release and blog writing, social media planning and content creation, and producing internal and external publications and promotional materials. Writing is her thing. She loves it. Task her with turning a ‘dry’ document into something unique and engaging and she’s never happier.
Mum of two young girls, wife of best friend’s brother, grammar geek, fan of Radio 4, superhero films and binge-watching quality box sets.
Project Manager, Creative Lead
Also Vee, Vivi and also answers to Fi (Nige gets mixed up)
Verena Vieregge (we’ll help you out – “Ver-ee-na Vee-er-egga) adds a distinctly cosmopolitan feel to the team as she is originally from Germany.
Vee joined The Dairy as a Project Manager after working in video production for the past 5 years. Teaming up with Fiona, she handles the day-to-day projects of The Dairy.
She enjoys being highly organised (although from the state of her desk, you’d never know it) and having an efficient spreadsheet for everything – from project schedules to her shopping. She is determined not to conform to any sort of Germanic stereoty….oh…
As an Art History and Visual Cultures graduate, Verena is very interested in everything visual – she encountered her love for working in the visual media when she was 5 and realised she could make money selling her artwork to fellow classmates. These days, she prefers working with other creatives and clients on visual projects and is dedicated to ensuring every project is a success.
In her spare time, Verena likes early morning runs, visiting art exhibitions, being creative herself (drawing, pottery), dinosaurs, and creating unique Anglo-German catchphrases. She eats. A lot. She’s annoyingly slim.
Also Thomas, Young Thomas, Walters (when playing footy), Tommy or Thaaaamaaaas! (as pronounced by the lady in Tom and Jerry!)
Tom first worked at The Dairy in 2010/11 as an intern while studying for his degree at Nottingham Trent University in Media and Communication & Society. After keeping in touch with Nigel for over 4 years, Tom joined The Dairy in early 2016 as an Account Executive.
Between graduation from University in 2012 and joining The Dairy, Tom had a brief spell in management with clothing chain River Island before landing his first marketing role as a Marketing Assistant for Visit Nottinghamshire, the official tourist board for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Tom brings with him skills in social media, copywriting, blogging, website content and even design! At The Dairy, Tom will be happily liaising with clients on a day-to-day basis, ensuring all their needs are met on their current projects (and keeping everyone watered with his infamous tea and coffee rounds!)
In his spare time, you might see this local lad across the River Trent cheering on his beloved Notts County (insert his standard ‘you pies’ cry here!) He also enjoys travel, gaming, music and playing sport – mainly the sport with the round shaped ball as opposed to the ‘odd’ shaped ball – but don’t tell Nigel he said that!
Also Clauds, Claud, Cloudia, sometimes Gloria (if you misheard)…
Coming straight from college, after completing her A-levels, as an 18 year old apprentice, Claudia joins The Dairy in a junior account exec role following two successful work experience stints with the team – impressing everyone with her ‘can-do’ attitude, sunny personality and (most importantly) tea and coffee-making skills!
Aside from internships with The Dairy and other Nottingham-based agencies, Claudia has also worked part-time at Langar Hall hotel and restaurant, allowing her to develop her customer service skills and professionalism (Bonus: she can make an excellent Espresso Martini!)
Outside of work, Claudia is most likely watching The Office or you can find her out and about with her dancing shoes on. She has a weird habit of randomly bumping into celebrities, which makes for some good office stories.
Mitch joined our team in June 2016 as our resident designer/artworker, bringing with him a wealth of creative experience to the Dairy design hot seat.
In his previous role Mitch worked as an in-house designer for Yale Door.
Mitch studied at the University of Lincoln from 2012 – 2015, achieving a First Class (BA) Honours Degree in Media Production, with a specific focus on design. He also achieved the award for Design Student of the Year in 2015 during his studies. Now he returns to Lincoln to help mentor students and occassionally teach!
A local lad, he went to school at Eastwood Comprehensive before studying at Bilborough College.
In his spare time, Mitch enjoys dabbling in design and typography, reading comics and manga, and engrossing himself in the golden age of TV. He also writes, illustrates and publishes indie comics and zines under his brand Black Mass.
Also Cal, Cally, m’darlin’, Chum, Flower…
Caroline has spent over 30 years in the banking world with HSBC. She still works part-time for the organisation but enjoys her time more as financial controller of The Dairy.
She has enjoyed all sorts of financial training over the years with the bank and more recently on the Xero software we use at The Dairy – although she still uses ‘The Dummies Guide’ book occasionally! Like all busy ladies, she juggles her time between her two jobs, looking after the home and (the hardest job) managing two teenage daughters.
Like Nigel, she is a fan of the great outdoors and is never happier than walking in the Peak District or camping by the seaside!
In the early days of the business, Nigel did all the accounts work – but when he admitted that he had failed his Maths O level, Caroline took over…
