Last year I heard about a great fundraising event which is aimed at raising awareness and helping to tackle the issue of homelessness. The CEO Sleepout is a national charity set up to tackle homelessness and poverty on our streets. The way this charity raises money is somewhat unique but in my opinion, brilliant. It encourages CEO’s and business people to sign up and sleep rough for a night, gathering sponsorship along the way from friends and colleagues, in order to help some of the most vulnerable people in our society.
This event came to my attention through Notts County’s Football in the Community programme in 2016 and sadly, I was unable to participate last year. This year, however, I have already signed my name on the dotted line in order to take part, don my winter woollies and my sleeping bag, and camp out under the stars (or storm clouds) to make a difference to those affected by poverty in the UK.
My night of little sleep (and potential frostbite) will be Thursday 5th October at the edge of the pitch at Notts County’s Meadow Lane stadium, and I am now beginning my fundraising efforts in earnest in order to raise as much money as I can for a very worthy cause.
I have set up my own JustGiving page, and it would be great if as many Dairy friends and contacts could donate to the cause as possible, in order to raise a significant total for my night of little sleep and no doubt, huge aches and pains the next morning!
No amount is too small, and all donations are very gratefully received. All money donated to my page will go directly to CEO Sleepout upon completion of the event.
I thank you very much in anticipation of your generous support!
